Actress Rose Byrne is in talks to star in comedy Home Again, about a recently separated mother of two who moves to LA and takes in three charming young men. Hallie Meyers-Shyer is writing the feature, which will also be Hallie’s directorial debut. Hallie’s mother Nancy Meyers (It’s Complicated) is on board to produce.

Actress Elizabeth Debecki (The Kettering Incident, The Night Manager) will start filming God Particle on June 10 in LA. The sci-fi film is being produced by JJ Abrams and also stars Gugu Mcbatha-Raw (Concussion), David Oyelowo (Selma), Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War) and Chris O’Dowd (The Sapphires).

Actress Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) is currently in Hungary filming action flick Terminal with Dexter Fletcher and Max Irons (Woman in Gold).

Actor Callan Mulvey (Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms) is filming independent dystopian drama Desolate in California alongside Tyson Ritter (Lewis and Clark).

Director Jonathan Teplitzky (The Railway Man) has commenced principal photography on his new WWII drama Churchill starring Brian Cox (The Bourne Identity) as the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The film also stars Miranda Richardson (The Hours), John Slattery (Mad Men) and James Purefoy (The Following).

Directors Phillip Noyce (Rabbit Proof Fence) and Bruce Beresford (Mao’s Last Dancer) were responsible for the first and last episodes of new four-part US miniseries, Roots, a remake of the 1977 hit about America’s history with slavery for the A&E network. The Nielsen Company reports that the first episode drew 5.3 million live + same day viewers across its four-channel premiere. Roots will be on SBS later this year.

Screenwriter Louise Fox (Glitch, The Kettering Incident) has signed on to write Trip a reimagining of the classic Chinese novel, Monkey: Journey to the West, about reincarnation for BBC America.

Writer, producer and director Gabrielle Weller has secured a number of high profile interviews for her documentary Never In, Never Out about the life of Syrian-born UK fashion pioneer Thea Porter. Kate Winslet (The Dressmaker) will narrate the documentary, which will feature contributions from Kate Moss, Mick Jagger, Julia Roberts, Michael Caine and Elton John amongst others.

Local post production companies Rising Sun Pictures and Illoura, based out of Adelaide and Sydney respectively, contributed to the visual effects in the current season of HBO’s epic series Game of Thrones.
